Globacom Should be GlobaCON

THE COMPANY

This company has been floated by Dr. Mike Adenuga(Dont go by the doctorate it has been bought from a Nigerian University). Dr. Mike Adenuga is a brash and dirty man to work for.He does not care for professional freedom, dignity and respect. All he wants is YES men around him.He often calls people by the FOUR letter world and expects evryone to be his personal servant. In the company he has got lots of servants-qualified from the best institutes in the country-They are at his beck and call and they are not even ashamed of what they do by selling their souls their families. This shows the power of money

THE DOLLAR DREAMS

For all those Indians who want to make Dollars working in Nigeria beware of Globacom or Glomobile. This company is not worth leaving India and your existing job no matter how bad it is. Let us tell you something about this group, the owner and some of their practices This company will lure you with dollar appointment letters and will promise the moon but what you get is this
CAR-Everyone joining is promised a CAR but people are not given a CAR even after six months. Lagos without a car is a total no as there is no public transport.CEO level people have not been given a car. They have to beg other people to drop them.
SALARY- You will get your salary in two parts-local in naira equivalent and the other in dollars in India. The local salary is given to you at the official conversion rate of 130/135 naira to a dollar and when you change it in the market you change it at 145 Naira to a dollar. A straight loss What's more the salary is credited in the bank owned by the owner and when you withdraw you pay a ''Cost of Transaction". You cant open an account anywhere. If you leave or they come to know you are planning to leave they will not let you withdraw the money in your account Now the dollar salary-It is paid once in three/four months and suppose you leave before your salary has been credited they will forfeit your salaries. The owner is a shaitan who drinks peoples blood. He has not paid so many people the salaries which were write fully due to them...So be prepared to lose your dues if you leave Globacom
Leave- You will be promised leave after one year of joining(after confirmation)The beauty is they will not confirm you and whenever you go on leave your salary will be cut(all from your dollar earnings)The leave itself is difficult to get as all applications go to the Owner who decides on leaves. Some people who asked for leave were asked to leave permanently House-They will not give you a house even if promised. Many people have taken houses on their own. They pay a allowance in lieu of Accomodation. It is not even sufficient to get a servants quarter in VI/Ikoyi.You will get a house far off and don't have a car. Now imagine your plightSackings- The owner will sack you without any reasons if he does not like your face.Infact you can stay here without performing if the owner somehow starts liking you.The company has had 10 CEOs since it started two years back and many INDIANS HAVE BEEN SACKED
Promotions-You got to be kidding. With all this do you really believe you will get promotion in this company Work Style and Job Content-You could be an engineer but could be asked to sweep the floor by the owner and you have to do it, Everything needs the owners signature even if you have to take a pencil out of the store. He abuses people badly often using the four letter word.So if self respect and dignity is not what you care for this is the place for you. You can ask specific questions by sending a mail to indiannigerian@yahoo.com.... More later

I cant agree with you more. I do feel sorry for a lot of people who work there. Especially the Indians. But can you blame him, he has surrounded himself with a lot of psychophants. And all they seem to do is to want to get each other down in a bid to look good with the man.

Unfortunately, there are no labor laws in Nigeria. And he is very 'politically correct'. So he'll probably get away with the way he does things.

My theory is that he'll drop some day (you have to give it to him in that regard - he has a lot of energy to run the business the way he does). And when he does, you can be sure that his kids will take over and be worse than him.

It is unthinkable how people work there.Agreed the man has energy but to do what-shout and yell at people.

He will buy software from Microsoft and wont pay them. The email ids of all people have been cut off.Is this forward thinking.

People are not given computers to work. These are basics in todays corporate world.

He rotates sales people at his whims and fancies and expects people to deliver. How can they

Stay in your freaking country. Nobody is begging you to come to Nigeria. Goodness. The problem with many foreigners is they get to comfortable with their position, when they visit other peoples country.

One thing you must note is a lot of qualified Nigerians are out there without jobs, and you coming into Nigeria, is like seperating the beggar with reminants. Get a life.

If you have problem with Globacom or Dr. Adenuga, why don't you go to court instead of running a campaign of calumny against him and his company.

You are just wasting your time and energy. I advise you to channel your time to things more productive instead of an act of vendetta.

I am ashamed of those Nigerians who have sold their conscience for a kobo! Someone is raising a valid concern and we are politicising the issue!!! Mike Adenuga is simply a TIN God, a self made demon with no heart! He is an epitome of wickedness and to say he is highly unprofessional is just an understatement. A highly vindictive business man, he will go any lenth to put to bed any kind of threat to his beliefs no matter how inconsequential they might seem in the scheme of things. I am sick of his unprofessional treatment to his staff, and believe that time has come for us professionals to stand up and fight this colony! I am aware most people in his organisation are still there simply because they have no other choice; no thanks to the employment situation in the country. Anyone who can reach him should please pass on this message to him; He that killeth by the sword shall die by the sword, and all of us are accountable to the master who has given us good things for HIS pleasure only.

Hi I must say I found your site and comments interesting . I too worked for the mighty man . I was lured from South Africa with promises of a home, car and a salary paid on time etc.
What did I find , well I got the car and the apartment but the working conditions were shocking and getting paid was another story , he still owes me US $ 30 000.
I see a lot of comments regarding the treatment of the Indian staff and this was very poor but quite frankly the people I felt sorry for the most were the Nigerians who worked for him. They were treated extremely badly , I found my Nigerian colleagues to be well educated, enthusiastic, eager and keen to learn.
In return they were threatened , demeaned, abused , their confidence undermined and some cases completely destroyed.
If anything one ends up feeling sorry for Mike Adenuga he is so insecure that only he can be right , he is so frightened that he can not let anyone get on and do the very job that he employed them to do. He could have put up his network for a fraction of the price it has cost him and he would have launched sooner. The reality is that Globacom will only survive for as long as Nigerians have no other choice . Once Econet / Vmobile gets its ownership problems sorted out and especially if Vodacom /Vodaphone enter the market he will be squeezed between MTN and Vodacom two very professional , first world operators. How on earth can you expect happy, loyal customers if you do not have happy, loyal employees.
I am a great believer that every dog has his day , Adenuga's day is coming, he does Nigeria no favours and in fact seriously undermines the efforts of all the decent Nigerians with his unethical behaviour. In conclusion whether you are a local Nigerian or an expatriate understand that whatever Adenuga promises you will not be delivered.
Good luck to Nigeria , with people like Adenuga at the top of the heap you are going to need it.

I worked in this company and am ashamed to have been there. The Chairman is being mislead by many people who are making money behind his back.Look at marketing.I was asked to leave when I had raised concerns about the money being spent on things which were unwarranted.

This company treats everyone as a personal slave of Mike Adenuga and even employees close to him do the same with other employees.

How can one take him to court in a corrupt country like nNigeria. You must be joking man

Dr Mike adenuga is a very kind guy that is helping Africa to go on. How many Africa pen robbers, thieves or honest are running business creating job recruiting african? The indian and others expatriate will complain, it might be true. But the chairman is only making decision according to what he will receive from all the begger around him. How can we explain that all these useless indian are working for his companies? What do they know about GSM? If you are former worker of this company, you will know that the company can collapse because of indian. You will know that people are resigning because of indian. If they don't want to come to Glo I think the company will feel better and people will enjoy. I've left the company because of the management which is very bad, but I don't think the chairman himself in devil. No, he is good, he need professional and genuine workers

I am a Nigerian, and very patriotic, but reside in America.

To those Nigerians writing against this blog, I say: "Shame on You." You are so ignorant you don't know that it is the views of expatriates that are most counted upon by foreign investors and tourists in weighing Nigeria's relevance to the international economic system. Whatever they say counts. And I will believe them over most Nigerians.

I commend the author of this blog. He/she is more patriotic to Nigeria than most Nigerians. We Nigerians like to fool ourselves and pretend problems don't exist. The result is the state of our country now, in spite of all our resources.

I was in Nigeria recently, and the so-called mobile phone revolution is pitiable. I bought a Glo card and could not even load it for several hours - busy traffic is the cause. The phone companies milk Nigerias for services they would not be allowed to provide elsewhere.

Hey, who's to stop them? There is no leadership. Our country is nothing but an organized jungle.

Please, let this blog continue to post comments that will expose the wrongs in the Nigerian society.
Adenuga, as we all know, is a kiss-ass investor, who thrives by the grace of those in power. Other than his connections to power, he is a nobody. He is no Bill Gates! He has meagre intellectual endownments.

He is rumored to have made his money through homosexual contacts with the former dicator Ibrahim Babangida. He continues to suck President Obasanjo's ass, if not physically, by patronage.
It is people like Adenuga who rake the fortunes of Nigerians, and deny the larger population the proceeds from their God-given wealth.

Thank you so much my brother Indians. You are, indeed, gurus, for starting this blog. There is a lot we can learn from you. Please speak out. This is the age of web freedom. Let's hear the stories.
I will explore with you the possibility of starting a full-blown web site in the future on this subject.

Maybe, together we can help Nigeria take care of one of its problems - Mike Adenuga.

I have seen many comments on the blog and I am sorry for all Nigerians who sympathize with Glo or Dr. Mike Adenuga.

Do you known that the mighty Mike Adenuga sacked females in the company who were expecting. He did not give them maternity leave.

He used his influence to get people sacked in other companies who left him.

He regularly uses new females in Customer Care to his advantage. All of them are Nigerians

This blog is not against Adenuga. It is against all what is being done by rich and mighty to Nigeria.A country full of promise and hope but sad that Dr. Mike Adenuga and his kids will screw it for times to come.

There is nothing new in what Mike Adenuga does to his staff,We have so many Mike Adenugas out there.

In most of the One man companies in Nigeria, Employers are Demi-gods, your job is to worship them and everything goes well with you, whatever experience you bring into the job may not matter much if you are not a psychophant .

Most of the people condemning Dr. Adenuga would do worse than he is doing now if they were in his position.I also notice that only dismissed staff of globacom are speaking up now,how many of them were willing to speak out for others when they were still enjoying good pay at GLO?How many more disgruntled staff are still in there Leaking some boots until they are thrown out before they come out here and raise an alarm?

While we criticize the man we should also appreciate the fact that he has been able to take so many people off the streets by providing jobs.

I do not support employers trampling upon employees,I am in support of workers standing up for what is right, kicking against slavery in the workplace regardless of what is at stake, dont wait till you are asked to leave your workplace before you speak out against the injustice the poor workers suffer in our workplaces.Until we start doing this we will continue to have many pathetic and horrible stories to tell.

As for the Indians, they are really not my business, let us look inward, look at the Nigerian workers, look at the unemployed population of this country!Who is talking about the indians?Come to think of it, are we not second class citizens in other people's countries? They should stay in their country and work with the SAINTS over there! While the Nigerians take a ride with Our Mike Adenugas!

Let us stand as one and see how we can reach the so called rich and mighty,Our employers, the givers of our daily bread, the demi-gods so that we can cleanse the working environment not only for ourselves but for our children and our future generations.

WE ALL HAVE A PART TO PLAY!

It is not a question of an Indian writing about a Nigerian company.

It is about what is true and what is not.It is about the larger picture-Image of Nigeria.

It is about committments made and honoured.I am a Nigerian and I worked in this company since inception.Let me put some questions to all of us-Indians,Nigerians,Germans,Kenyans etc.-

1) What would you say about a company where 6-7 CEO are fired? All of them came from reputed companies and are now working in telecom companies/groups much bigger than Glo

2)What would you say about a company where employees from abroad are brought on Business VISA and made to work without arranging valid work permits for months

3)What would you say about a company where the Chairman calls senior people for a meeting at 9 in the morning and makes them wait till 4 in the evening.Waste of managemnet time. This is the rule and not the exception.I have myself waited for "His Excellency"

4)Would you work in a company where what you are promised in the contract is not honoured. We Nigerians can still leave and join elsewhere but what about people who have come from other places.Where do they go.Most people I know came to Glo from reputed companies from abroad

5)Would you work for a man who uses phrases like- He is a bastard, He is a mother ******, about senior people in his team in front of their juniors

6)Would you work in a company where you are not given the leaves promised to you

7)What would you say about acompany where suppliers are not paid even after six months and their monies deducted without reason-All the suppliers are Nigerian companies

8)What would you say about a company where young recruits in call center are often called in the night by the owner

9)What would you say about acompany where the billing system overcharges and even after pointing it out-The owner says leave it.It is a network Nigerians use and not Indians

10)What would you say about a company where all employees(whether Nigerian or Indian or Whatsoever) dont have a personal life

This is the problem of our great country with hardworking people.People like Adenuga are giving it abad name internationally. This company is running as the Nigerian market is big and the consumers very naive.

THINK ABOUT IT.DONT IDOL WORSHIP

I would dearly love it if anyone would give me the name of any Wealthy Nigerian who has obtained their wealth honestly, from hard work, a little blessing from God, and a lot of sweat and tears.

Only people like that, can I admire, and try to emulate.

I look around and I see nobody.

Mike Adenuga is an egomaniac, nobody could deny it. Just like Donald Trump he splashes his name on his ugly Golden Tower on Adeola Odeku st. "Look at me, I'm like a god!" he is proclaiming in my mind.

Yes, his Glo company seems to have changed the Nigerian GSM market to push it just a little closer to what is normal in other countries, but let's face it. It's still very Expensive, very unreliable and The Nigerian consumer is being extorted in the very worst kind of fraud, the kind that's above the law.

I disagree with oscar aorabee above. It's not Capitalism that is Evil. It's the Greed of the fat bastards that control it. Socialism creates laziness, like we sufferered with the state water corporations, Nepa and Nitel. Communism puts too much power in the hands of Government and we know what bastards they are.

It's the Love of money that is at the root of evil not money itself. When you love money for money's sake, you lose sight of what is good in the world. God forbid we should end up like him.

Earn your money, enjoy it, share it, save some for your future. Make it work for you, don't let it make you it's bitch.

All my love to all Nigerians.

He has not given the company name as he knows what reputation Globacom enjoys in India.

However there are servants who will go back again when called by mighty Adenuga- Tushar, Rakesh, Vineet

These people are the worst

It is agreed the mentioned people above have done vey little maybe with one exception (the last name). Lets see it carefully...an employer offers you a good salary, furnished house, car, flight tickets, one month leave.

After you land in Nigeria. You hear 'Where is the money coming from'. Can we cut expenses. It is not right. Can we move Indians into one bed-room apartments. Can we tell them if they leave they leave fore-ever. Adenuga is not father christmas.

Well it serves him right. His best guys like Subhra, Ashok & Lester have left. All ran away.

90% of the other good people are looking at opportunities. What is left finally is the South Indian Gang. Suprisingly, if you see all Adenuga companies...you only see South Indians.

Most people left because of the South indian politics. Adenuga does not understand this. He thinks he is running an extremely professional company.

11:01 AM

We forgot Adewale Sangowawa in this discussion. He is ALWAYS POLITICALLY CORRECT. A pin drops and he tells Adenuga. A man of several faces (all bad ones). Head of HR with no signed HR policy till date. He has never done this before and if analysed can be the route cause of the company's situation. He has not produced anything positive till date. It is not good to abuse this old man but he is not as good as he sounds.

Believe, i have stopped talking to him because whenevwer he smiles & talks he is trying to get out information to pass to Adenuga. He has also planted dimpa whos whole job is to be diplomatically correct at all times and get information out.

Over all the team has a leader called jameel (sales man). he is claimed to be well respected. theoritically he is only respected by the south indian gang. his vision is short sighted, upto the sales figures for the day.

Globacom is a trap and one should never join this company.Look at people who have left or were sacked without reasons-

Mr. Lester Herbrt
Mr. Mahesh Khera
Mr. Deepak Varma
Mr. Parag Sen
Mr. Kallol Ghosh
Mr. Murli
Mr. Subhra
Mr. Tushar Maheshwari
Mr. Rakesh Gupta
Mr. Ashok Israni
Mr. Vinit Ralan
Mr. Rajinder Arya
Mr. Nitish Malik
Mr. Randhir Bindra

And the list goes on and on.Why leave your good jobs for the mirage of dollars. There is no dignity here.Join only if you are a mallu.

Here Adenuga will kill your self esteem, your creativity and than sack you.

His son regulary sleeps with call center people. He is following in his fathers shoes

Adenuga is surrounded by a coterie of sycophants who will be his end. The topmost is the slaesman turned COO called Jameel

He is a COO just in name. All he does is say yes and do what the king tells him

2:58 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is not all my friends.Let me tell you the politician Jameel is and how he has become COO from a salesman. He joined as Sales Manager for fixed line and told Adenuga The Bull that the CEO for fixed line is not good,is very old and was sacked from his job in India(one Mr. Kaul). He got the job of looking after the fixed line business.Than another person was sacked on his recommendation(Mr. Sharma)The Chairman thought he is a good guy since he is giving feedback about all people and saving him money by eliminating deadwood.Than Jameel got a GM-Sales called Tushar Choudhury sacked and than a nigerian called Lasaki. From here Jameel became good for Adenuga.Than he has continously got people sacked as it made him continue in the Globacom Shop till date when no one ever has been able to continue.Jameel was not even working in a strategic role in India. It shows if you can lick boots Globacom is the place to be.Hail Adenuga

Ya'll just need to shut up men... I suppose the popular pidgin saying that says Bad Bello no good is rite. I am not an employee of GLO, i have not resided in Nigeria in the last 10 years, but i'm happy to know that at least one of the so called rich men in nigeria has provided not just something to be proud of, but also job opportunities for a lot of graduates.

Fine he may be a big headed fool, who likes to boss around.. but that's just the reality of big men in nigeria.. it's the way the game is played

so all u peeps who worked with him and think he's a greedy cow... ask urselves this question?

what was my motive for leaving my well paid job to work for mike Adenuga?

I'm sure ya'll agree its greed!!, promises of a house, dollars, cars etc.. so tell me why u r complaining.. if u dont like the way the man runs his bizness.. get the hell outta there.. so simple and stop all these hating games.. secretly, ya'll wish u were him!!

i'm proud of the geezer, whether he sleeps with girls, curses pple with four letter word or any other thing!!

especially all u greedy ass indians who think u can take over.. get out if ur not happy.

Mr `i'm proud of the geezer' you are not only a bastard but a big fat fool.
People change jobs because they are ambitious. They want to develop in their field and of course earn more money...that is not greed you twat.
You obviously have no idea what professionals are earning...yes oh house, cars or even dollars is the norm depending on your level and what you negotiate.

we continue to tolerate rubbish in nigeria and so called nigerians abroad who are supposed to have small sense come up with bullshit like you.

The world is a global village people can work anywhere, like you i imagine, unless you are on welfare in a coucil flat so shut up about indians `go home'.

Big problems are being identified, we may not be able to solve them but we can continue to air our views and warn others, but to sit there, in another country, and talk trash does not help.
A nigerian that employs nigerians and destroys their self esteem and creativity is not a positive to me and most professionals (which might explain why you haven't got a clue). i don't know about you, but some people have principles and refuse to be trampled upon. i would advise you to give up you giro/welfare check and apply for a job at Glo to get a taste of the geezer you admire so much.

BTW i am a nigerian, well educated abroad and now back home working.

To the blogger, big props, continue to publish the injustice and ex/current glostaff continue to give your comment to alert would-be employees to at least know what they are getting into.

Adenuga is definitely not the only tyrant in nigeria, but one by one, little by little maybe we can make a difference.

Adenuga has used words like "mother******" in meeting with senior people.

There are others apart from Sangowawa-There is Talabi who thinks she is the queen-People say Adenuga sleeps with her

He does not pay suppliers and often wants changes done in contracts already signed.

All u hard working Nigerians it is guys like him who are getting richer by making Nigeria poorer

after reading the comments of many above, it seems they all come from disgruntled staff who themselves have no ethics and lie blatantly on this site because they have been sacked for not performing in their jobs.

I have worked closely with the man and have never known him to abuse anyone. yes, he can curtly ask you to leave the room, but abuse - never. yes, he is a street smart businessman who will do anything to further his business needs, but I have known him to be fair - and generous to those who deliver results.

unfortunately, those who work for him include a lot of sub-standard gold diggers who would never last in any good professional organization. they are a motley crew of fortune seekers who are out to make money without performing. these useless dropouts are the ones writing all these exaggerated lies.

Mike Adenuga is no saint, but he is fighting a constant battle with fortune seekers who want to rip him off and a section of crap employees who are not woth shit but want to be paid big dollars for passing time doing nothing.

yes, there are no policies, and yes he wants to control everything - but only because he doesnt have people he can trust. infact he has often delegated authority to those he trusts.
what can he do with expats he employs and brings into the country at great expense - who just grab a plane out of the country after their cup is full, without so much as a resignation letter?
it is these rotten apples that make him suspicious of everyone. yes he calls the shots and dictates the way he wants his company run - but it is his money. not money from some bank or venture capitalists. yes, his method of making money and being successful as a businessman may be unethical - but so is george bush, who has blatantly invaded iraq at huge cost to human life, simply for the greed of oil. so are all the other businessmen in the USA, Japan, UK, India and every other country in the world, who are constantly manipulating politicians to further their interests.

To all the disgruntled assholes writing crap above, i say - if you dont like the way he runs his company, bugger off. no one is begging you to stay. if you stay and take his dollars, then shut up and swallow your pride. or if you cant swallow your pride, have the guts to leave - as I did.

Phew.
I was planning to join Glo. But the info above is proving major deterrent. I liked last comment. There seems to be some authenticity in it. No one would make big business empire without being street smart.
However genuine concern remains is the delayed payment and not fulfilling the contract obligation by the employer.
Another disturbing trend visible is the existence of unwarranted tension and & undercurrent of hatred with Expat employees. I think in the professional world there is no room for difference of nationality, religion etc. A professional is a professional and has global acceptance.

Moreover, Nigerian and Indian both haven repressed ( in past) by colonist (Europian oppressors). Hence both community should live together and fight out the imperialist west. If work force of Asia and Africa join hand together genuinely then no one can beat it. Haven’t you noticed the similarly of ideology and approach between Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
In any case, I have dropped the idea to leave my current job/country and go there.

I am replying to the person praising the man and wants everyone to bug off.

Think he was called to UK saying that he will be made the CEO of a company. He will be given 250,000 as salary. A car a driver and a house.

He leaves his job, reaches UK, goes to the comapny and realises there are 4 more CEOs in the same company. He does not have a car. So if you don't have a car how can you have a driver. You move into a tiny appartment with the objective that you can only hide from your friends and not tell them thats where you stay.

He does not get the salary on time??? First month, second month third month and when he gets his salary, he is told, it is partially deducted becuase it is company policy to deduct for the employee handset. Which handset??? it is an Alcatel 311 4yrs old. with worn batteries. as the company was unable to sell and nobody wants it, it is mandatory for you to take it.

I think the maximum resumes floating are of glo staff. one gets a decent offer and he can leave.

If he still wants to praise him, let him wrtie back.

This person who has praised Mike Adenuga is none other than Deepak Varma. He was brought in as CEO and did not leave on his own accord. He was sacked by the Mighty Adenuga

It is strange that even after being humilated by the guy he is praising him so much. If DV(as he is called by friends) had any pride he would have left the day he came

He gave a party to all new comers and the expeses for that were supposed to be reimbursed by Glo.But Adenuga does not believe in these things and the bill was rejected.

A bill of a few dollars from the CEO is rejected. What is amazing is that DV did not pay this bill. His sales guys paid it and DV never reimbursed it back. What a CEO

Not only did the Bull treat him like shit but also made his junior in BPL his BOSS(Dada Jamil)

This is not a professional organization and only the worst from across the world stay there. The rest move on.Dont ever join this

i am female and nigerian.
i worked at glo for a while and while i agree with some of the comments posted so far. i have to say there is a bit of bad belle. adenuga is an entrepreneur. and like most businessmen, he has to rely on people becos he cant do everything himself.
unfortunately, i think the preponderance of Indians at glo is one of the main problems. adenuga should desist from seeking indian employees. indians are part of the problem at glo. adenuga prefers Indians becos they are cheap labor. why doesnt he recruit from the US or Europe.
Outsourcing is such a big thing. and it is always cheaper. indians who have left or were sacked should stop bellyaching. you took a bad risk. leave it at that. your duty is to make sure a lot more of your country men know what is happening before they accept appointment letters from adenuga. money will continue to be a factor for many. it was the reason i took the job offer from glo at the time. their offer was a whopping double of what i was earning. while i was at glo, i know of 5 indians who joined. on their first day at work, what they wore to work was a reflection of their finances - old, tattered shoes and threadbare shirts. after a few weeks, they began to look robust and well turned out. money is a very big magnet for adenuga. he will continue to use it to draw indians and he will discard them when he has no need of them any more.
i left glo after only 4 months, and everyday, i thank God that i did. the indian in charge of my dept at that time made sure i left - after only four months. i had joined glo almost straight from graduation. no experience whatsoever. i applied as a customer care executive but the inept execs at HR said i would do better in sales. can u imagine? when i protested, i was told i would be given training. i never got more than 4 hours training on my first day. the next day, i was given a target to meet!!! of course the money was a big draw, so i tried to do the job. but it was never easy since i had no requisite experience or training. of course i left as soon as another job opportunity presented itself.
i am now happy doing what i do . the pay is not as fantastic as glo, but close. i close at a decent hour which means i have a social life. i have job satisfaction.
my point? - money isnt everything. agree that those of you who wwere sacked or left glo made a bad professional move when you agreed to work for adenuga. move on. the best you can do - educate your fellow indians, let them know what they are getting into. meanwhile, work hard at whatever it is that you presently do. succeed and become a star. so that you can rub adenuga's face in the mud one day. that is my plan.
cheers

This is not about Indians or experts or Nigerians. Whereever you come from, do not believe the few praise worshipers that have send in lies to damage the truth. Niyi Adenuga who changed his name to Mike after the death of his father is a dangerous MAN. He does not trust anyone, does not keep his promises and especially, is not a man of his word. I worked 4 him and I know. Forget your contract, its just a few sheets of paper.
He is above the law and thefefore has no respect for it. For the liar who said Adenuga

Adenuga is an Enigma. A wicked one at that. He eats humans for dinner and his favouite are Indians. He knows everything.from Sales to marketing to technicall. He is the Guru and his middle name is Wicked.
Seriously its not about being Indian or Nigeria. Adenuga will change yor life from an expert in your area of competence to a personal assistant especially if you want to spend his money like confetti. He will remind you everyday that you did not make his money for him and so can not spent it for him.
The man worships the demon. So your prayers must be very strong.
Stay with your present employer. Nothing can be worse that Adenuga. Nothing. Nothing. HE will entice you with money and you will not get what you were promised and you will not be able to do anything, ANYTHING about it.
Your letter of appointment/contract ill not be with GLo anyway. It will be with one of so many shelf firms incorporated for the sole purpose of cheating all employees. Thats the man for you.

Na wa for all these yans! seriously
I am really taken aback with all these comments

before now i have heard a lot about Glo and the almigthy 'Adenuga', my conclusions:

1. Adenuga is a Businessman and moreso a capitalist, so remember that

2. It's not too bad to give in to promises of cash, cars, houses and all cos if you are a proffessional, you seek for the best working conditions, especially if you know you can deliver and in most jobs, salaries do not commesurate with work done. Believe that!

3.The glo experience is a bad one and there is nothing much we can do, but somehow, somewhere, someday.....vindication is on the way and will definately come

4. Don't work for Glo if and only if you have a choice, but if you don't....i guess half Kpafu(soft bread) is better than none

5. To Dr Mike Adenug -I think I like your driving spirit, but don't make so much enemies. Believe that this is really key, you can protect yourself for now but keep a legacy for your kids that will go beyond your companies. History has shown, one's 3rd generation will have to hussle for their livelihood, a good name and REAL friends will ensure the goodwill trickles down

5. Very nice site.....Indian Nigerian, you got your freedem of speech and do use to benefit others

there are worse bosses out there. so what do u think this blog will achieve other than allowing disgruntled failures ait their angst.
i am yet to meet an employee who thinks that his/her boss is the best.
i have read every comment on this page and i have a suspicion that the comments have been written by just 3 or 4 people, Indians, i suspect too.
i dont care one way or the other for adenuga, but i will respect you sorry excuses for men and women(?) if you would boldly flaunt your identity. afterall, if you claim to be telling the truth, you shouldnt be scared of Adenuga.
meanwhile, i think this blog site stinks,- its just a shoddy attempt to sink a hardworking man. so what if he is rumoured to be a homosexual? so what if he changed his name after his father's death? so what if he insults employees? he is just acting like most bosses i know. most bosses are pricks anyway. i think you whole lot of indians should just shut up your mouths and do something meaningful. go back to your country if you are finding Nigeria too hot to handle.

Nigeria can be a cruel place. People need to understand that you usually dont make it to the top in Nigeria by being all nice and polite and well-mannered. I've noticed first-hand that the nicer you treat people in Nigerian Business, the more they take you for granted. And the more likely they are to think that they can take advantage of you. It's sad that Mike Adenuga screams at this employees or whatever...but i'm currently working for a very big companies and managers tell you straight up (maybe not screaming) when you're doing a horrible job. In the business there's no area for niceness, it only leads to decreased productivity. Also, think about it...he has the weight of his entire empire on his shoulders. Most of us have our regular jobs which we can leave at 6pm and go back home. The pressure on him is 24/7. He eats, sleeps and breathes his business. That can be traumatizing for any individual. I'm in no way justifying Adenuga's action, as I'm not well-read on his policies; but I can slightly see how/why he acts the way he does.

One more thing...if there was no Mike Adenuga; there would be no Globacom, no CIL, no Equitorial Trust Bank, no Devcom Merchant Bank. I give him kudos for being able to put food on the table for his employees, even though his salary system is obviously flawed. I'm sure the employee who gets his salary and uses it to buy food for his family is not as bitter about Mike Adenuga as you think

My comment is divided into two categories.....

Number one: Indians, nobody is forcing you guys to stay in Nigeria. If you do not like GLOBACOM treatment, please do yourself a favor.......go back to your country, it's that simple.
I do not support any selfish individual who thinks of nothing but self benefit..(Don't let any Indian make you think that they are looking out for us, Nigerians) If things are so sweet and jolly with your country or companies in your country, why are you here in Nigeria? These people want it all, they are currently doing the same thing in USA. They go to other countries complaining and their country is next to hell. These are the same people who are very shady and very rude...just go back to your country.
As far as I'm concern, I truely think the indians should be kissing GLOBACOM feet..Period.

Number two: Nigerians will never be satisfied...instead of try to step on each other's foot, we need to embrace one another and appreciate one's effort. What we do not realize is the fact that GLOBACOM is very rich and he has several choices, he doesn't have to do any business in Nigeria.
At the moment in Nigeria, our telecommunication is more stable compare to those terrible days.... and KUDOS should be given to GLOBACOM. Many people in Nigeria are running around with cell phones and they really do not understand the real root of the accomplishment.
Moreover today in Nigeria, many telecommunication companies are competing very aggresively, not because they feel like it, but because company like GLOBACOM is around. In my book GLOBACOM or Mike Adenuga means quality and success..We need more incredible people like him.
This man has created enormous amount of job opportunities for nigerians and folks from other country........Trust me, he didn't have to.
I can start counting other big wigs in Nigeria that can careless what the employment or technology development status of our country says.
Further more, at the moment in Nigeria we do not have any law that hinders people from running their business using their own generic style..Therefore, GLOBACOM has right to do what ever he wants with his companies. And I bet you, the same people doing the compaining would do worst if they have the same position.
Hence let's wake up, smell the coffee and give respect to who deserves it. Don't allow some Indian people to shield our eyes or faces from seeing and knowing the true. We should direct the Indians back to their country and have them modify their unpleasant LAWS.
The LAWS that continue to chase them out of their country.
In my book, nigerians should be glad to have people like GLOBACOM around and may God almighty continue to bless him and his other investments through out the world.

I have been looking at this site for a while.having decided to be slaves of the beast, one doesnt have a room to complain. But I appreciate the caution one is free to excercise and the liberty of doing that provided by this Blog.Kudos to the creator.

I would also like to point out two things.
1)Indians are screwed by Indians themselves...you know the fucking bastads ,I am sure. The guy probably will go back in a box at this rate.. wait and see.His unworthy self and mind are so perverted and corrupted that he has been carried away.He will not see clear warnings and he will ultimately pay..He will be drowned under his own sins.
2) There were worthy people who came here by accident. Now most of them who are left or the ones who dare are absolute morons who are ideally suited for this environment, who dont command any respect in India. All the new recruits are excellent in this area and they will quickly contribute to the bringing down of this mockery.
That is justice and it will be served.

This comment is dirrected to AKINTUNDE:

You stated that you are very patriotic, you need to double check yourself because you're a fool, a big one. Your big head resides in USA and have the nerve to make such an uncivilized statement about issue you obviously do not understand. If you truly resides in USA, have you noticed lately that contacting families through out Nigerian cities, towns and villages is now a 123 process?..I'm pretty sure you do not understand the root of the accomplishment. You ran or escaped to USA from Nigeria without thinking about why and how to prevent others from doing the same.
I'm pretty sure that you left because you didn't have any choice just like the rest. So much degrees without any opportunities, so much degrees without food on the table and so much people with very little employment opportunities...During that same period there were several big wigs Nigerians that had the resouces or capabilities to change things, but guess what? they did not. Everyone including yourself was too busy and too selfish to make things happen, instead they selected the easy way out, which was to leave the country to invest in other countries. No one had the balls to deal with Nigeria or Nigerian people in general. You must be an exceptional individual in every way to be willing to do business in Nigeria.

KUDOS to GLOBACOM for having the desire to function in a society that was barbarous and unpredictable.
KUDOS to GLOBACOM for bringing competition into our telecommunication market, KUDOS to GLOBACOM for bringing back hope to a country (Nigeria) that was lacking refinement in general, KUDOS to GLOBACOM for creating employment opportunities to many Nigerians and saving the future of the new generation, KUDOS to GLOBACOM for making Nigeria an employment zone to Indians and other folks out side Nigeria, KUDOS to GLOBACOM for willing to take the risk to invest in Nigeria, the same country others called zoo for investors......

We need to learn how to embrace one another and discourage outside factors (Indians) from distracting us from appreciating the incredible accomplishment of great Nigerians.

Indians:
It is simple just like any other civilized businesses or companies, if you do not like your position or treatment of your employer...move on and get yoursefl a new opportunity.
As long as there is no LAW that hinders folks from operating their businesses in a certain manner, I think we all have right to do what ever we want with our businesses in Nigeria.....It is up to the employee to make his or her own decision.

It is written that noone will ever gratify the need, desire, or expectation of Nigerians..as we all know that we always want the easy way out.

Further more, Mr Akintunde, if you want to know more about Nigerian problems or poor treatment at work place by employers.....you need to take a vacation from USA and work for couple of days at OBASANJO's Ota farm and then come back and talk about Nigerian problems.
I wish you the best....May God bless Nigeria.

BIG B (USA)........Still the same state of mind, but different attitude:

The Indians should focus their energy on evaluating employment opprtunities improvement in their country.....instead of hating Nigerian employers and fighting one another over power struggle.
They should allow Nigerians to resolve their own issues.
What many people do not understand is the fact that Indians have their own internal problems...e.g The conflict with the Indians from south, competition on who can kiss ass the most and so on. I think this issue has nothing to do with GLOBACOM or Nigeria.....It's more or less a cultural factor.
Identify comments posted by Indians and pay attention to their tone.....and quickly you will understand where I'm coming from.

No disrespect, but one has to be an animal to run a successful business in Nigeria. Everyone around you or your business are constantly studing an effective strategy to get over one way or the other....

You have to be extremly strong mentally and physically to hold Mike Adenuga's position. It's not an easy position..You want to help your people and your country, but at the same time you're constantly watching everybody...as we all know, 98% of the population can not be trusted. Hence you have to act like an animal, a bastard and a beast.....or else folks will be taking advantage of you and your investment.

The game of employment can not be understood unless you become an employer. You definitely take care of the top notches that you can trust.
But why should one give you cars, houses etc, even if you have been promised when you have not done or showed any of the incredible things you've listed or displayed on your resume.....
And trust me that how it is all over the world......Every sigle boss or employer has something very common to the way Mike operate his businesses. Even Donald Trump could be very firm and nasty........the same thing with P.DIDDY and the rest of the big wigs all over the world..But there is one thing that is not common......dealing with Nigerians.......Kudos to Mike.. You have to be ready and nasty to function effectively in Nigerian society. Let's be honest with one another.

People also need to understand the true definition of job....

Let's stop disrespecting a man who has provided food for many families in Nigeria.
A man who has brought back hope for the new generation.
A man who continues to invest heavily in the country like Nigerian where nobody else is truly willing to do the same.......Let's face the fact, he didn't have to do any of these things.

Could someone mention if any of the so so called leaders have the same vission or mission Mike has?
I don't think so...

So let's pray for the country, the investors, the leaders and the Nigerian people....
JFK made this wonderful statement before he was killed "stop asking what your country can do for you, start thinking what you can do for your country"
I believe Mike is trying his best in his own way, It's time for us to step up and do something positive for the country, instead of crying and begging.

Peace to Nigeria.

Well...I'v read thru a whole lot of comments made here & I have a couple of words for those who so wholeheartedly support & praise Adenuga & co...ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD.Adenuga,Sangowawa et al, go about with clean-cut looks, smiles etc..but what lurks behind all these?I can boldly say i'm in a privileged position to authoritatively say certain things about this duo,ESPECIALLY Sangowawa.People should ask questions about his fetish connections(OGBONI,LODGE etc),which all originated during his stint in the Ivory-Coast,also homosexual connections with Adenuga,IBB etc.The hunger for more power while in the top position at ADB,pushed him into all these unholy pacts with these people. He became Adenuga's best pal, when, years ago,Adenuga applied for a loan running into millions of $'s from ADB.The Board of ADB,knowing his stooge connections with IBB,rejected his application.Sangowawa, using his almost veto power on the ADB Board, then got it approved.Since then, Adenuga has felt indebted to the man. When Sangowawa was disgraced out of power & forced to resign at ADB(yes...DISGRACED & FORCED TO RESIGN!!There's a whole lot more to that episode than was made public!!),Adenuga took him under his wing as his "errand-boy".When war broke out in Ivory-Coast & he had to leave in a hurry, he was offered the juicy position at GLO,which he unashamedly took, and has been kissing Adenuga's ass ever since..!!So,no one should be too shocked at all the stuff going on at GLO.The ppl who are running the place, have their hands soiled with too many unholy alliances for anything to go right at GLO. I challenge anyone to disprove these facts after having done detailed investigations into both their personal/family lives.GOD will ALWAYS be on the throne....no matter what.

just thot i should check up on the blog after i last posted my comment. i am Akachi.
i am not supporter of the fat slug called Adenuga, but what does it matter if he is an homosexual? does that make him a bad person? are you trying to say he is a motherfucking bastard because he is an homosexual. you guys are confused. face the facts.
Adenuga is a bastard becos he is a bastard. it has nothing to do with having a different sexual orientation. its like saying, we men are idiots and irresponsible becos we have affairs outside marriage!

i opened this blog today cos i thot i would read comments about adenuga's arrest by the EFCC. alas, i still read of people still being traumatised by the negative phenomenon called adenuga.

whatever!!
i have a question
since all of the bad belles on this blog once worked for adenuga, why not send the address of this site to him so that he can read it for his pleasure?, eh. i believe since most of you claim to work closely with the man, you should have his personal number
2ndly, let your ex-colleagues at glo know about this site, so thay can post comments. i would like to read comments about adenuga from those still working for him.
that way, we can have balanced reporting, eh?

last word---
bloggers, face the issues. Adenuga is a bad ass. finish.
dont bring up stories about his rumoured homosexuality.
by the way, i am not a homosexual. in case some dirty minds think thats why i ma asking you to face the issues. i would like to personally cut off the dick of any gay idiot i know.

Let's be realistic here...

1. If an employer can treat employees like bull shit, it's either because the laws have failed the employees or the employer is willing to dance to the tune of the labour laws. The former is our dilema.

2. Mike Adenuga, in establishing Glo, took a bold step, and as a result, lots of Nigerians and non-nigerians (sycophants inclusive) have benefitted. There are a million and one Nigerians who are richer, but prefer to invest their wealth outside of our great country. A good number of others invest in their greedy political ambitions.

3. Fellow Nigerians, if you work for an organization where you are treated like dirt, be bold. Keep the job if you must, but be frantic in your search for a better job.

4. About Indians working for Nigerian companies, if you think Nigerians working for Indians (inside and outside Nigeria) are treated any better, think twice!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in support of slavery of employees. To be honest, I have paid my tolls as a "slave". Neither am I an Adenuga fan. But give the man some credit. Conoil, and ETB, both his, not only employ lots of us, but are doing pretty well. Does Mike Adenuga not run them?

Globacom brought about numerous changes in our telecoms industry. I remember some companies told us how impossible per-second-billing was. Today, we all know beter.

Other companies in the telecoms industry are not much better. I'll rathere slave for a Nigerian company , than slave for a company who treats Nigerians just as bad, an their huge profits are "exported" to South Africa.

Leave his personal business out of this. He can choose to sleep with a palm tree if he so wills! Attack the problem from the roots. Do we have any labour laws at all?? If we do, why are they reluctant to go after slave drivers (inclucing our "brother Mike")?

Who-ever you are, you're obviously upset and heavily seeking for a revenge.
Your state of mind is completely dismantled and corroded. It is also obvious that your reaction is totally personal.....Well, what ever you may be going through, I truly feel that it wouldn't be a bad ideal for you to seek for self evaluation/ professional help...

Eventhough to you it looks very cloudy, but I hate to tell you that there is light at the end of the tunnel....MIKE THE SHIT will be back, better and stronger.

Hello Big B,

I really enjoyed all ur comments and passion for Naija. I was employed staraight outta University at a salary of 1.5 million naira per year. That is about 120,000 per month after taxes for a 22 year old with a second lower class degree from a very crappy Naija University. That may not sound like a lot of dough to most of u but it sure was a lot of money to me an my family. I was able to rent a 3 bedroom flat in surulere pay for my lil brother's university tuition, put food on the table and still have money to save at the end of the day. Three years down the line i now work with a bank at a higher level and a higher salary. To all those bad mouthing Mike Adenuga, which other coy would have given me that kind of opportunity to gain relevant experience and financially solve problems. Ashok and the other Indians dare not be saying anything because while Ashok was in Globacom's employment he was earning $20,000 a month for being COO, living in his posh Ikoyi house which is only a 10 minute drive from Victoria Island where glo is located. Ashok being the selfish mutherfucker he is will call a meeting at about 6pm when pple are getting ready to retire for the day this meeting will probably commence at 7pm and will not end till about 10pm and none of his staff lives 10mins away from the office with a car and a driver. And i am very sure Mike Adenuga is not aware of those meetings. Most other Indian bosses in other depts within glorun their own gimmicks as well including Maria the fat sweedish boss at call centre who happened to my boss as well. Most of these bosses run their various depts not with advice from Mike Adenuga but thru their superiority belief that since blacks are their subordinates they shouldnt be expected to be treated nicely. Akintunde from the USA saying that Naijas like to cover the truth should try working with a dirty looking Indian that hardly speaks english with a diploma in commerce earning $5,000 per month while u with ur MBA and all sorts will be so happy with ur 200,000 naira per month. The bottomline is that yes Globacom might not be a fantastic place to work but it solves a lot of problems for families with its salary...it definitely helped me in building my career. Nigerian employers believe that by hiring foreigners it adds prestige to the company...my whole thing is that if u gotta hire foreigners hire the real ones British and Americans who speak well and are more humane than those dirty, smelling, chimney smoking indians and Eastern Europeans. Ashok forgot to mention that he has joined Vineet and their other Indian clone in a telecoms coy in UAE...so lets watch out for his blog when he leaves that one. If Naija is so bad y do u Indians keep moving from one country to another Go on back home to ur spicy chicken masala and curry...but wait since your population is just outta control u will always find an Indian spot as u keep rolling. God bless Nigeria always and once we start loving and caring for one another we will begin to solve all the issues in our land

Ashok, Ashok, Ashok. If this is really u, u are very stupid, fat-ass, dick sucking INDIAN pig that does not have a mind of his own. Is it bcos Mike Adenuga has threatened you that he will involve u in the petroleum development trust fraud is that why he is a GURU all of a sudden? I will make sure u are caught wherever u are for all the inhumane things u did while in Naija.

Ashok, Mike and Paddy always used to have a prank in Chairman Adenuga's house where they will measure who had the biggest dicks and then call up Maria the fat sweedish boss at call centre to send down the 3 hottest girls that worked there. Once they arrive Adenuga's house they began defiling this girls and the winner will be whoever tore thses girls assholes. Then adenuga gives them a million naira each in cash and a week's vacation then tells them to go and treat their a-holes at any hospital of their choice.

If Ashok dares denies it i will expose him to his new coy in UAE...If he thinks i am bluffing let me see a denial on this blog and i make sure his company sees a video they made while defiling these girls. How do i have all these details? i used to be Mike's personal Assistant.

He always sleeps with all his girls rigjht in front of me and ofcourse makes his souvenir videos. Unfortunately he wasnt aware i was making a copy for myself as well. I am in negotiations with that fat prick and his son to pay me off £20 million to keep my videos to myself but i can release it to the highest bidder. As most of u know Adenuga is in big shit in Naija so he is hiding away in London. So if anyone has an offer let me know and u got it.

It is amusing to me how low people like you could go.
Instead of wasting your energy and time on things that are not real, you need to get help, life and leave these people alone. Enough is enough, we are tired of these baseless stories of low life like yourself.
I can assure you that very soon God will put people like to shame. There light at the end of the tunnel...May God continue to bless Globacom and Nigeria.

Good luck with your video.

With Big B it is just a case of not wanting to believe what is true and taking deception for reality.

I have also heard about the sexapades of Adnuga and company and how Maria used to supply girls. That is why she got gifts like Omega watches, Cartier Jewellery and Louis Vuitton purses etc.

As for Ashok he is a scumbug. His only claim to fame has been his closeness to Adenuga. He has also made millions in underhand deals at Glo.

His philosphy was if you stay late in office, Adenuga will think he is working hard.

Please release this Video so that the world knows the truth.I can post emails of some people who you could send it to.

Big B,

Maybe if ur sister was one of the girls working at Glo, getting harrassed by a 23 years old brainless executive director and his father, maybe u might not be loving Glo as much.

If only u know what pple go thru in Nigeria becos of the job situation here. You are being a second class NIGGA in USA and u think of everything is okay here.

Like i said if anyone wants the video, let me know how much u r willing to pay and u got it.

Mike, Paddy, Ashok, Jameel and Subrha must pay for all the sinful things they have done. If Adenuga does not give me the money i am asking for he can be so sure CNN and BBC will love to have a copy. So someone better talk to Obasanjo to save the image of his country bcos of the so call whiz kids and gurus Nigerians love to hail.

I'm waiting

The kind of things that people have written here are because of the bad experiences they have personally had with Adenuga and Glo.

Being an Indian myself, I would like to say that the Indians in Glo have conducted themselves so badly that they have managed to create a bad impression about their character, style of work and Indians at large.

I had an option of joining Glo, but was adviced by a few of my friends who have worked with Adenuga not to join the company and was also adviced to read about the comments of people on this blog and have decided not to join Glo.

I personally have worked with a lot of Indians who are currently working in Glo previously and let me tell u that they are amongst the worst people you can come across in India.

The reason that they are all still working with Glo and are not back in India or some other country is because they are not getting a job.

Recruitment in India is mostly based on industry experience and people land up jobs through networking with their ex-colleagues / friends. These crop of Indians in Glo are those who have behaved and conducted badly in India as well and hence no Indian in India has any positive feedback to give about them to prospective employers or give them a lead about a prospective employment opportunity.

My request to all people writing on this blog is not to have such a bad point of view of Indians because of the type of Indians whom u have come across in Glo. And I am sure a few of them must have been good as well..:-)

Miss Rachel came to my office the other day. One of those wet Lagos evenings. Heavy rain and everyone was trapped as it was rumoured that the 3rd Mainland Bridge was jammed or it had collapsed, many remained on the Island late or found other ways across to the Mainland.

Miss Rachel looked seriously worried. It was not the rain or that she did not know her way home. She has a car like most up and coming Lagos girls and the car was working.

She has a problem.

You see, Miss Rachel is at the prime of her life. You know, that age when every woman thinks she should be married with children as that female Big Ben was constantly chiming away. Making loud rumbling grumbles about inactivity and lack of optimization.

Along with this, there is the family matter. Pressures and reminders that the Big Ben is there and the younger ones need a leader in this population contribution business. Pressures from friends whose weddings, naming ceremonies and engagements make up Miss Rachel’s weekends in Lagos.

Miss Rachel wants a lot in her life. In fact, she has a lot in her life. A steady boyfriend she has been hoping to marry for a long time. A good job. A car. Many friends. The sadness in Miss Rachel is from being trapped between a rock and a hard place.

She depends on this good job. She caters for herself and her needs and contributes her fair share to the family upkeep budget. Life could not be better settled.

But my colleague A.S. is the problem.

You see, he is an internationally acclaimed banker. He has worked all over the world. When he arrived as one of those janded boys in our company, every young lady, as most do in Lagos, was eyeing him. The prospects of getting ‘close’ to him so that ‘favor’ can be granted sometimes because of his position. After getting tired of counting money, A.S. came to our company to count people. He is our top man in H.R. Good Salary. Good Benefits. Close to the Boss. Wife and Children.

But he wants Miss Rachel.

The tactic is to pressure a lady to submission. The pressure starts with extending the hand of friendship. A ‘friend’ to talk to on work matters. A shoulder to cry on if you need one. A little financial help here and there. ‘Appointment’ as the "my eyes and ears".

To a growing professional, this is the ‘ideal’ position to have in a company. So when A.S. calls a late evening ‘meeting’ at the other quiet building Miss Rachel is invited. There are other people there. Outside clients. Contractors. Guests of the company. It is a business review session. The first one goes well. Everyone is happy. This has to become a regular fixture in the business calendar. And the next one. And the next one.

But A.S. has his eyes and other things on Miss Rachel.

Miss Rachel has her eyes on her future. Husband. Children. Good House. Good Car. Good Job. Her ally in the company is A.S. A top executive who can ‘assist’ her progress. A ‘friend’. A good man with honor and integrity. The type she hopes she will marry soon. Yes, soon as her boyfriend has the same qualities.

She has been with our company for 4 years. She has worked hard. She has been available when others have not. She will stay late to impress and will do her work diligently. So much so that some of the other HoDs will ask for her to do work for them as they do not have capable and committed staff. Everyone knows her here as Miss I Too Do. She likes this job.

Gifts from trips abroad for dedication to work. Financial Assistance from time to time. A little allowance for the weekend. Her ‘new’ Mont Blanc pen. The Catwoman sunglasses. A bag to match her dress for her friend’s wedding. This is not a problem as A.S. is a ‘friend’.

Then the ‘requests’.
“Lets have a drink”,
“No need to rush home”,
“Have you eaten at that Chinese restaurant near Eko Hotel?”,
“Why don’t you come in earlier so we can go over this reports?”.

It all seemed so innocent.

Miss Rachel was happy to be useful to a boss. Afterall, he is the H.R. oga. Can move her progress faster. Better position. Better salary. She can afford more and do the things she wants. To help her family. Her friends. Even her relationship. She enjoys her work. It is her life. It is her future.

Not anymore.

A.S. has come again. Promises of promotion. Promises of taking her on trips abroad. Promises of leaving his wife. Promises of giving anything she wants. She just has to be his ‘Baby’.

“Baby? “
“At this age? “
“Ah! She cant be anybody’s baby o! “

“Wait! What king of baby?”
“That kind?”
“With the prospects of a good future with her boyfriend? “
“Oh God!”
“But the other day you said…”

Miss Rachel has dignity. She cannot be anybody’s baby at her age. She has worked hard and knows what she deserves. She has earned it!

But wait a minute.

“What if A.S. arranges for her to lose her job?”
“What if she has no job?”
“How can she cope without this lifesaver?”
“Her boyfriend. Loyal, loving boyfriend.”

What is a girl to do?

“If nobody knows”
“Just once”
“Let him have this and he promises to deliver”
“I will cleanse myself in church after this one time”
“Pastor said to fast and pray for forgiveness when we do wrong”
“I think he can keep it quiet”
“I will get the promotion and move to a new job for better pay”
“It will pass and I will forget, boyfriend will not know”

Then the first time.

“Oh God!”
“What is this?”
“What have I done?”

Then the second time.

“Oh God!”
“I am dirty!”
“I hate myself”
“Please, nobody should know”

The next time?

Miss Rachel was scared! Everybody at work is looking at her somehow. Those ones were whispering. Her colleagues begin to seem quiet. They don’t talk anymore? No sister gossip?

That look.
That up and down look.
“Did that one just look at me like that?”
“Does anybody know?”

That Trip.
That late ‘working’ night.
That Party.

And A.S.?

He comes to our building often. Always stops by to say hello. A big smile on his face. Happy to be here. Even his fellow ogas say hello. He talks too much.

Then suddenly it all stops.

No Smiles.
No Gifts.
No late ‘review’ meetings.

“Maybe it is the problem with the authorities. “
“Maybe it is the pressure as oga kpata kpata is ‘away’”.
“Maybe.”

Miss Rachel broke down in my office.

“Please. Please Miss Rachel don’t cry so loud before they think something is wrong”
“What is the problem now?”
“What do you want to do?”

She feels trapped.

No Promotion.
No Salary increase.
She can’t resign as she needs this job.
Her boyfriend is there.
She can’t face him.
One day he will know.
But she loves him.
What about her future?
What about Big Ben?
Where can she run?
How can she hide?
Who can she tell?

What kind of life is this?
Living a lie.
Just when everything is looking well.

“She must run.”
“She must hide.”
“She can start again”
“Again?”
“At middle age?”
“Husband?”
“Children?”
“Yepa!”

And our company marketing line?
What Pride?

She can’t.
Can’t.
Can’t.
Can’t.
Can’t.

“Help!”

Guess Who Miss Rachel is? LOL

Some reliable Golden Bull girls at work will tell you the Don is around. They should know. Afterall, the luxury weekend ‘come and entertain my friends’ trips to Ghana are still in progress.

Glo has got a new corporate statement “Blo With Pride”. For all you executives in the company and in companies around VI, just walk in and pick any of the specially employed well-endowed girls, specially selected at interview by the Don himself, for your pleasure at any of the numerous near-by hotels in VI. It must be nearby so the girls can still get to work on time and be it is important for the girls to learn to tell their families, boyfriends, husbands and fiancés that they are working out of town.

The money can never be enough in a city like Lagos. If you cant find a boyfriend in the company after Ogas have finished with you then be available to any visiting executive especially from out of town.

There are particularly special ones bred for entertainment and tutored by senior ‘Blo With Pride’ babes in the company. Those are the ones the bosses will always demand they stay behind or MUST make long-distance trips for days! Hard work. The queue to work for glo is a testament to the veracity with which the executives devour the cheap meat lying (no pun intended) around. The bigger the meat, especially rump steak, the happier the senior or even junior employee.

Since the commissioning of the garish building, the sale of pampers has doubled in lagos! Have you seen the glo walk? Check it out next time you are on Adeola Odeku in VI.

Friends of Glo, senior executives of nearby companies, ‘Big Boys’, The oga’s son’s friends all come by to pick from the public suya (sewer?) of intellectually poor babes.

Guys once your woman tells you she is working out of town and she works at glo? Check the neigbouring seedy hotels as she drives in during darkness and sneaks out in time for work at the top employer.

Benefits of NCC Licence are more than telecoms masts! Other Masts are welcome.

Hi, I just stumbled on this blog and I wish to comment about this Adewale Sangowawa, the GlobaCON so-called Executive Director, Human Resources.
The blogger who spoke about Sangowawa's fetish practices in Cote d'Ivoire spoke nothing but the real truth. It is also said that Sangowawa never obtained any degree from Uganda. He forged his degeee. He rose to Vice President by leaking the ass of his superior officers. Many leaflets had been distributed throughout the Bank about the evil doings of this stupid man called Sangowawa. It is an open secret that he used single girls in the Bank like ''woman wrappers'' and he used to dance naked at night in front of the Bank in Abidjan in order to become its Vice President. Just mention his name in Abidjan and you will see people's reaction.

It's not by force, if you think the organization is not fair in any way, I will advise you to move on; but I guarantee you that sooner or later you will be begging just like the rest to come back.

The organization is expanding vigorously and making big things happen in Africa effectively and efficiently.
In my eyes, this is an organization one should crave to work for; their future is bright like a day light.

No need to listen to the haters, there will never be a perfect job for anyone; but why not check it out and make your own judgement? You just never know, what is horrible for Peter may also be perfect for Paul.

Make no mistake about it, GLOBACOM as a Nigerian company is a valuable and priceless asset to all of us. And it will even get bigger and better.

Very interesting comments. Sound more like a soap opera!!! It is sad to hear about what is going on the company, seems like its a combination of racism and greed.

To the Indians and other ex pats in Nigeria and to those companies that employ expats shame on you! We Nigerians cant come to India and work as expats, infact you treat us like slaves in our own country! So dont cry wolf when you are treated like this.

I'm no suporter of Mike, but i am against the abuse - physical and mental that nigerians have to endure in some of these companies. The unemployment rate in our country is high, i don't even know why they are employing so called expats. I hear even Dangote factory in lokoja is employing a large number of Indians.. maybe yall can go there, i guess he is a nicer man than Mike. I work for a company where they manger of my department worked in the UK as a receptionist and now because he is an expat, because he is oyinbo he is now my director!

Go back to your country and stop complaining.

Yes, the indians are taking over by taking our jobs, but blame nobody but ourselves.
We crave short cuts, we find it very difficult to be honest and our leadership skill is not that strong either.

Yes, the Indians are not perfect, they could be very greedy at times, and they tend to take advantage of any open opportunities; but at the same time they're more focused and determined to give their best at all time.

On the other hand, We, Nigerians are so quick to cry when things are not going our way. We complain and disrespect one another and pure honesty is not very common among most of us......So, what do you expect the Indians to do when we, Nigerian can't even work together as one. It's all about ego and what one can get before the pepper soup runs out.
We need to get ourselves together and discover a better strategy to clim back to the top.

In my book, folks like Mike Adenuga are blessing and priceless gift to our nation. And we need to recognize this fact right away.
He's an investor, president, CEO e.t.c; the man has the power to employ who ever he wants who ever he feels that would give him the most. Also he has the power to export all his businesses to other countries if he desires to do so.
He totally represents the success of telecomunication in our country today. He continues to provide job opportunies to Nigerians in general; the same task the leaders fail to successfully accomplish.

Therefore instead of crying and complaining, we need to join hands, work hard together, display self respect at all time, ambrace one another, be honest and be proud of what we have; or else the Indians will continue to take our jobs away from us for many many years to come.

the indian guy who posted the blog might be right about Dr Adenuga's attitude but the truth is that his comments were laced with calumny. i reside in south africa and know how the indians are. they are exploitative, arrogant and desperate for financial gain. if they were in adenuga's position, they will do worse. they are equal to slave drivers. look at indian owned companies in nigeria for example to see what i'm talking about. the indian guy should remove the log in his own eye before removing the shard in adenuga's eye. adenuga is an enterpreneur with an obviously questionable source of wealth but at least he invested it into a profitable venture for nigerains to benefit from. and by the way, who dares compare richard branson with adenuga.?? abeg no make me vex o. adenuga get profile?? nonsense

It is fair for us to know what we are talking about before opening our mouth.
There is no need to debase Adenuga's accomplishment, the man did not become successful just last night. He worked very hard day and night to become who he is today.
Please double check your facts before making a baseless statement such as "Adenuga's source of wealth is questionable". That is a low blow and unfair statement.
Just because Adenuga doesn't come out in the public to make senseless noise like the rest doesn't mean his source of wealth is questionable.
Adenuga has been a very wealthy man for over 25 years.
He did it all; from distributorship to manufacturering businesses. The man made himself without any question.

Please, get it right before spilling rubbish.
Adenuga is one of a kind; and Nigeria will be a much better place today if just 10 Adenugas exist in this country.

If adenuga is a terrible man, the sycophants around him are even worse. They know the system. they do not contribute any value. They only wait for pay day to the detriment of the organisation as a whole. Sangowawa, Jameel, the old hag Maria svensson. These people have completely sold their souls to the devil for money. They have no conscience any more. No self respecting individual uses even 3 years in that company!

you people need to hear what is happening in globacom benin republic. A complete embarrasment to Nigerians and Nigeria as a nation.
Pity go to the nigerians that work there. i hope they remove their head from inside their ass and get real work quick in another organisation.

Let us forget the Indians for a minute.
It is sad and unbelievable how progress haters continue to hate themselves. This country is almost 50 yrs old, could one of you "shit heads" identify a single company or entity that has done half of what globacom has done in just less than 6 years of operation?
This is why most haters do not prosper; instead of embracing one of the best things that is currently shinning positive light on Nigeria and Nigerians all around the world, they are busy hating themself.
Another question for the haters: what have you or your papas done lately to move this country forward? The answer is simple, "ZERO" "NOTHING".
More than 5 thousand Nigerians today are eating and also putting food on their various tables, all because of a man who willing to take chance to invest his money in Nigeria.
I would rest my case as soon as one of you "haters" could be bold enough to come out here and identify what your papa or mama is doing to help this nation.

Bunch of bone-heads

all these stories,is it true? i am not sure oh. but glo is giving too many money out to people and have too many customers to keep the company going. then whatis stopping them from paying their workers or rather treating them bad. it is not good oh, but Adenuga should not be part of this picture it is a big company and requires HR team not CEO. pls be sure of this type of comment because it boils my heart and make me never want to come back home and work for my Nigeria.

It is only right for a man who has invested his money on a project as bigas GLO to want to control it as much as possible. I am sure he does not wish for his venture to collapse but to grow. He may not be going about it entirely rightly but hey, its his venture.

Indians are extremely intelligent. I am Nigerian and i have worked with Tech Mahindra here in Milton Keynes and they are very good and detailed at what they do. Whether they feel let down by Adenuga's treatment of them leaves them with a decision to take, to stay and continue to take it or leave.

I worked with a couple of Nigerian banks and with one particularly which has since folded up, the Chairman was just requesting millions of Naira as if it was from his private purse. Whenever he requests for such monies, the GMs start shifting responsibility of who to sign it off amongst themselves, and when they do sign, its with short signatures. The bank of course has been liquidated by the CBN.

I only applied for a role as a Business Development Manager today with Globacom and i will see it through and if employed, will take up the offer because am sure of my ability to deliver on the role. Am i taking a risk leaving the UK to work with Globacom, heck no! Its my decision and i stand by it and not blame it on anyone.

I dont think i will expect my salary (if employed) to rent me a house in VI or Ikoyi as suggested in the original post that has generated so much comments, but i expect to do a job that will afford me a reasonable living. I have worked in lots of companies here in the UK, they are not far off from what the original author claims, if his claims are true.

I have not worked with Mike Adenuga before but i have fond memories of him building structures at my university when we needed it badly. I can only make of him what i have seen of him at close proximity and not what is made out on the internet. Again Mike Adenuga is not here to defend himself so its only a side of the story.

I think it was just a bad experience for the author, am not totally disputing his claims but i cannot ascertain them as well giving Mike Adenuga has not told us his side of the story.

In concluding, whatever are his faults, he his only human but i hold the man in high esteem for creating as much jobs for Nigerians and foreigners alike. A lot can be said of the plastic and textile companies owned in Nigeria by Indians, but i do not intend to paint Indians in bad light just because an Indian has done that to a Nigerian entrepreneur, but only to suggest that such attitudes can be found in many industries/ organizations.

Nigerians and Indians are great people with a cultural exchange dating back several years and we should continue to live with such thoughts of one another.

Just to add to some of the original author's comments, Mike Adenuga owns a bank to the best of my knowledge, any wise businessman can only ask that his businesses benefit from each other to increase their income, i wont be surprised if GLO and ETB fleets only fill up their tanks at Conoil stations, that is good business sense. So i do not see the grudge to hold based on what bank you are asked to open up with (at least in the Nigerian context)

The author talked about 'Cost of Transaction', i take that to be commission on turnover, which is usually at N5/Mille, meaning for every thousand Naira taken out you pay the bank N5. This again is the norm in all Nigerian banks, the ony accounts that dont pay COT are staff accounts (bank staff) and high transaction accounts for which the banks benefit from the float and fee based charges. So again COT is normal in Nigeria.

Thirdly, if you where looking to stay in V.I or Ikoyi with your salary as an expertraite then i suppose you want to use up your money in paying for rents in Nigeria. Those parts are entirely for the very wealthy except if you get a decent BQ to rent. Perhaps Lekki or Ajah would have been more appropriate.

I am unable to talk about the abuse you claim Adenuga resorts to as it has been disputed in the comments here, so i am unable to talk about that.

I can only hope you now have a job in Indian now that is paying you as expected such that you can live in the richest parts of Delhi, your Nigeria trip could serve as education.

I think we should bring closure to this matter, Mike Adenuga is doing greatly for his people with such offerings am only worried for people who only play work politics because from my experience in most places i have worked, the moles are often turned against by the boss to whom they have fed with lies over the years, for them its usually worse.

I wish everyone the best of luck, there is never a perfect situation, if i put so much money down like Adenuga am sure i will also demand some form of control because no one can run your business as best as you can

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with Vista. I downloaded a MS word file which was attached to an email (no viruses, as far as I know). I then right clicked on the icon and renamed the file. A new icon with the new name appeared, and works fine to open the file. The old icon remained on the desktop and will neither open nor delete. When I try to open it it asks what program to use (even though it's a .doc), I pick Word, then nothing happens. When I try to drag it to the recycle bin it says it's no longer located on the desktop and I need to verify its location. It says its size is 0 bytes. Tried restarting, shutting down and booting back up, still there. What should I do? santoramaa

An Expats Tryst with Globacom

Globacom is nothing but a conglomerate of a psychologically sick man called Mike Adenuga, who keeps psychophants who can tolerate nonsenses. They hire expats specially Indians at a very high price with promises of company owned house and cars, that are rarely fulfilled. you be Lucky, if you get one...!

-Once you join there and report.... you are TRAPPED! after that, these breeds like Donnie, Kayode, Prince all vanish in thin air. Company owned House and Car remains a piped dream.

Then you are confronted with a woman in HR (2nd after Sangowawa)whom you would never like to interact second time, Dele Babatunde, who will never answer your single question on your Administration issues. There are agents of property brokers in the office itself who will motivate you to hire a house at Leiki, Ilupegu from where travelling and operating is a challenge.

You may think that you had a GM's stature in your country, you forget all that and whatever is given you to do.. just do that. may be you land up with a job which does not match to even Manager's stature.

Let us see, how they function:
- You will be interviewed for your suitability of employment by at least three people. you will carry your own Assesment Sheet to that man who will interview you.Waiting to get interviewed itself is a humiliating experience!

- you will have to meet Head of your function, Group COO, an ambivalent character. He will never be of any help. For all the problems expats face today can be attributed to him ... Why can't he talk to Chairman for the employees who are promised company owned House and car!

-After all these are over in two weeks, if you are lucky, till then you will not know what to do, where to sit and how to access mails etc. You may be allotted a PC or Laptop in three months after running around from one office to another... of course, on foot or OKADA (Motorcycle Rickshaw).

- you will be promised Relocation allowance of $5000.00 on arrival to meet the expenditure of travel and Visa, which they will pay you after three months, may be by then you have run away.

- The agents of property brokers are embedded in Administration will take you rounds and rounds... and you go crazy seeing the status of those houses. You will be surprised to see how people are staying even after one year of stay.

-Regarding office, its nothing but filth except Mike Adenuga Towers (MAT Building) which is a km away from Agoro, or 25 or 38 Saka Tinubu and walking on Lagos roads under scorching Sun with very high humidity... painful experiences. This you will be doing regularly for all sanctions (leave or procurement) as the Memo goes to Chairman and experience will surely be not a pleasant one?

- Food, house and safety after reaching there even after you hire a house and bring your family will remain a concern till you fly back to safety of your home country.Armed robbery is not very common in Lagos now a days but are not unheard of either.

- The good part of the stay is that you never trust anyone, maybe you will forget to trust yourself after 2/3 years of stay.

- you will make good money if you stay but at the end of the day you will remain a looser for the reasons that you will confront with self for rest of the life that whatever you have earned was at the cost of your self dignity and national pride.

i have read all your comment and this is like reading a novel or watching a soap opera.all are so funny.

i personally dont know much about how staffs of the company Glo are treated but going by what i have read, i thhink this is just not right at all, Mr Mike should be condemned and not praised if indeed this stories are true.
Nevertheless, we must praise him for his boldness in investing in Nigeria, if the company didnt exist, none of you former employees would have had the chance to know him and hence say all of this rubbish you are vommiting., it is true that bosses in many companies can sometimes be difficult to work with. i work in a company owned by my dad and i sometimes find him difficult and thinks some of his acts are sometimes rather ridiculous, but in close doors he makes me understand why he deliberately do some things. you need to be street smart sometimes to get the best out of people.

i would also like to say that it one thing to be disciplined and principled and it is another thing to be selfish and self centered, i can deduce Dr adenuga wants to use his staff like slaves to build his own empire under the disguise of been street smart.

He and any other boss in Nigeria and elsewhere who behaves in this babaric manner must be constructively critiscized in other to foster a change in them.

i criticise my father when he has done something that is ridiculous in the company.

This kind of blog and many more is needed, i am sure this so called animal bosses sometimes google their names, he would come across this someday if he has not already seen this blog, and i expect any man in his right frame of mind to read this and adgust.

KUDOS TO Y'ALL CONTRIBUTORS.

I'm a Nigerian, living and working in Nigeria. I've worked in 2 other countries (England and Egypt), and the difference is clear. I've known numerous people who have worked in GLO, and none of them disputes Adenuga's managment style (if it can be called that). CBN had to caution him to stop holding interviews in his house for intending staff of his banks (DEVCOM and ETB) some years back. All Nigerians being stupidly blind to his mannerisms have never worked there. All they have is blind loyalty. By the same token, if Adenuga is dragged to court tomorrow, and they ask these same Nigerians to vouch for him with their blood, nobody will show to answer for him. That's the way of Nigerians - very fickle! I've also known numerous people that have worked for Dangote. You will rarely hear them talk bad about him. Dangote's employees leave to set up distributorship businesses, selling his products. He endorses them, and by that endorsement, they have easier access to bank's financing. I experienced this first-hand. I've also related with these folks and can confirm to you that Dangote will talk to you like a human being. Please, do not equate the 2.
